Sample MCP Server for Revit Automation (APS)by Autodesk Platform Services
Autodesk's sample HTTP server that runs Revit jobs on cloud models through the Automation API, with no desktop Revit.
Autodesk ships its own Revit MCP server, a technical-preview add-on that works only with Revit 2027.2, plus a sample server that runs cloud models through the Automation API. Community servers go further back, to Revit 2020 in one case, and most load a C# or pyRevit add-in into the running Windows copy of Revit. Skills cover add-in development, Grasshopper-to-Revit workflows and the Nonica connector. Everything that edits a live model needs Windows and a licensed Revit.
Autodesk's sample HTTP server that runs Revit jobs on cloud models through the Automation API, with no desktop Revit.
Autodesk's hosted, read-only server that searches Autodesk Help documentation for 110+ products; it answers questions but never opens a drawing or model.
Autodesk's own local MCP add-on for Revit 2027.2, in Read, Write and Experimental editions, still a technical preview.
An all-C# local bridge to a running Revit 2022–2027 session, with toolsets you switch on and a read-only mode.
A FastMCP server with 48 tools that reaches Revit 2024–2027 through pyRevit Routes, including ducts, pipes and clash checks.
A Windows installer for Revit 2023–2027 with 125 tools for modelling, rebar, drawings, audits and exports; starts with a short profile.
A Python server and Revit 2024–2027 add-in where every model change waits for a plan you approve in a Revit panel.
A pyRevit extension and Python server with 46 tools for a live Revit session, usable over MCP or a local browser chat page.
A curated 94-tool server for Revit 2025–2027 with no code-execution tool, dry runs, an audit log and undoable batches.
A Claude plugin that bundles the 48-tool pyRevit server with a BIM skill and slash commands, plus a Windows setup script.
An extended fork of revit-mcp with 124 tools for Revit 2023–2027 and a Claude chat panel docked inside Revit.
Monorepo successor to revit-mcp: a TypeScript server and a Revit add-in that read, create, tag and delete elements in a running model.
Skill plugins that teach a coding agent to write Revit add-ins: Revit API, UI, project setup, tests and benchmarks.
A large construction skill pack covering estimating, scheduling, BIM data and reports, with RVT, DWG and P6 XML readers.
A Claude skill that builds Revit Dynamo graphs which read SOFiSTiK FEA results through the SOFiSTiK Dynamo package.
SKILL.md files for the Nonica AI Connector: tool reference, 26 gotchas and audit workflows, plus a lean edition for local models.
A Claude Code plugin of 18 computational-design skills covering Grasshopper patterns, RhinoCommon, the Revit API and Dynamo.
Listings are sorted by origin, then by recent activity. GitHub data is refreshed nightly. Nothing here is ranked.
An MCP server or skill can only do what Revit lets programs do. Revit exposes 4 automation interfaces:
Autodesk publishes the Revit Public MCP Server as a separate add-on for Revit 2027 with the 2027.2 Update, downloaded from Autodesk Account under Extensions. It comes in Read (8 tools), Write (11) and Experimental (39) editions and is a technical preview whose tools may change before general release. Revit 2027's release notes mention using these tools from Autodesk Assistant. Autodesk's hosted Product Help MCP answers Revit documentation questions, and its developer team publishes Automation API samples on GitHub.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Desktop, ClawdBot, Cline, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Google Antigravity, Microsoft Copilot, OpenCode, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Windsurf and claude.ai. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most Revit integrations run on your own computer next to Revit, so you need Revit installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
Yes. Autodesk's Revit Public MCP Server is a technical preview for Revit 2027 with the 2027.2 Update, installed as a separate add-on from Autodesk Account. Choose the Read edition for queries only, or Write or Experimental if you want the agent to edit the model.
Autodesk's server covers 2027.2 only. For older releases look at the community servers: BIMwright rvt-mcp supports 2022–2027, Horizun 2023–2027, mcp-servers-for-revit 2020–2026, and the pyRevit servers from Demolinator 2024–2027. Each lists its years on its listing page.
Yes. Claude Desktop and Claude Code connect to a local server that talks to an add-in inside Revit, so Revit has to be open on the same Windows machine with a model loaded. Claude can then query the model and, on read-write servers, create or change elements.
Only for some. The Demolinator and oakplank servers run through pyRevit's Routes server, while Autodesk's server and the C# add-in servers install their own add-in and don't need pyRevit.
For cloud models, yes, through Autodesk's Automation API sample, which runs a headless Revit engine in Autodesk's cloud. For local .rvt files there is no listing that edits them without Revit; the IFC tools in AEC Model Bridge read exported IFC instead.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
