AutoCAD API Skillsby Autodesk Developer Network (ADN-DevTech)
Autodesk Developer Network skills that teach a coding agent to write AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Plant 3D .NET 10 plug-ins.
AutoCAD has two official Autodesk MCP servers, and neither lets Claude edit your drawings: one lives inside Autodesk Assistant and mostly reads the open DWG, the other answers questions from Autodesk Help. Drawing work happens through community servers. Most drive a running copy on Windows over COM, AutoLISP or a .NET add-in; a few read and write DWG or DXF files with no AutoCAD installed. Only servers built on AutoLISP reach AutoCAD LT, and only LT 2024 or later on Windows.
Autodesk Developer Network skills that teach a coding agent to write AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Plant 3D .NET 10 plug-ins.
An Autodesk Platform Services skill that ports AutoLISP routines to AutoCAD .NET C# plug-ins for headless Design Automation.
Autodesk's in-app server that lets Autodesk Assistant query and select objects in your open AutoCAD or Civil 3D drawing; edits are mostly Civil 3D-only.
Autodesk's hosted, read-only server that searches Autodesk Help documentation for 110+ products; it answers questions but never opens a drawing or model.
Drives AutoCAD LT 2024+ on Windows through an AutoLISP dispatcher, with a headless ezdxf mode that writes DXF without AutoCAD.
An alpha in-process add-in for AutoCAD 2027 with 159 tools, 79 of them for AutoCAD Architecture walls, doors, spaces and roofs.
A .NET gateway and AutoCAD 2022–2027 add-in built around reading and translating drawing text in place, with a C# escape hatch.
A Windows COM server for AutoCAD 2018+, ZWCAD, GstarCAD and BricsCAD that packs 56 CAD commands into seven batched tools.
A beta Windows server that works on AutoCAD entities by handle and dry-runs each edit plan before it touches the drawing.
A large AutoCAD server (240+ tools) that drives full AutoCAD over COM or edits DXF headlessly with ezdxf, with checks that measure the result.
Controls a running AutoCAD, GstarCAD or ZWCAD over Windows COM with 35 tools for drawing, editing, querying and saving.
Reads DWG and DXF files through LibreDWG with no AutoCAD installed, so an agent can query objects and render views.
A piping engineer's server for AutoCAD and Plant 3D drawings, live over COM or offline on DXF, built around pipe-support block registers.
A SKILL.md for AutoCAD MCP Pro that makes the agent measure a drawing against its requirements before it calls the work done.
A large construction skill pack covering estimating, scheduling, BIM data and reports, with RVT, DWG and P6 XML readers.
Operator skills that teach Claude, ChatGPT or Codex to use AUTOM8LABS's AutoCAD, Navisworks and MicroStation connectors economically.
A mechanical drafting skill for GB/T drawings that makes the agent prove geometry, views and plot scale before release.
Two Codex skills that rebuild drawings in AutoCAD over COM, from a source DWG or from a photo, scan or image.

An MCP server or skill can only do what AutoCAD lets programs do. AutoCAD exposes 5 automation interfaces:
AutoCAD 2027 installs a local MCP server that Autodesk Assistant, still a technical preview, uses to query, select and compare objects in the open drawing on Windows; Autodesk documents no way for outside clients to connect, and drawing creation isn't offered. The September 2026 release added xref, layer and system-variable tools. Autodesk's Product Help MCP server, public since April 2026, answers AutoCAD 2023–2026 documentation questions in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Copilot without sign-in.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for Autodesk Assistant, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ClawdBot, Codex, Cursor, Google Antigravity, Microsoft Copilot, OpenCode, TRAE, VS Code, VS Code (GitHub Copilot) and Windsurf. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most AutoCAD integrations run on your own computer next to AutoCAD, so you need AutoCAD installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
Two, but neither does what most people mean. AutoCAD 2027 ships an MCP server that only Autodesk Assistant uses inside the program; in plain AutoCAD it reads, counts, selects and compares objects and manages layers, without drawing new geometry. The Product Help server answers documentation questions. To have Claude or Cursor draw or edit, you need a community server.
Yes, through a community MCP server on the same Windows PC as AutoCAD. Most attach over COM, so AutoCAD must be open and licensed; add-in servers also need their plug-in loaded and started. Claude then calls tools to draw, edit, query and save. Check the result yourself, since several servers can run arbitrary LISP or C#.
Only those built on AutoLISP, and only with AutoCAD LT 2024 or later on Windows, because LT has no COM or .NET interface and LT for Mac has no AutoLISP. puran-water's server is written for LT and loads a LISP dispatcher. COM servers such as CAD-MCP, multiCAD-mcp and AutoCAD MCP Pro need full AutoCAD.
Yes, within limits. DWG MCP Server reads DWG and DXF through LibreDWG on Windows, macOS or Linux, queries objects and renders views, but never saves. AutoCAD MCP Pro and puran-water's server have an ezdxf mode that creates and edits DXF headlessly; native DWG output then needs AutoCAD or the ODA File Converter.
Autodesk Assistant is Autodesk's in-product agent, a technical preview in AutoCAD 2027 that uses Autodesk's built-in MCP server and does not take outside clients. A community MCP server lets an outside agent such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or Codex call AutoCAD directly, with whatever tools that project chose to expose.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
