AI integrations for water and environmental engineering

Tresca tracks 11 tools in this field. 8 have at least one listed MCP server or agent skill.

Water engineering has a healthy set of community integrations, mostly built on the Python libraries engineers already use to automate these models. HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS have servers built on the ras-commander and hms-commander libraries, EPA SWMM has servers built on pyswmm, and EPANET has several servers that build, edit and run networks through EPyT or EPA's own EPANET engine. DHI publishes an official skill for MIKE+Py, its Python interface to MIKE+, and MODFLOW has a groundwater server built on FloPy.

Air dispersion models such as AERMOD and CALPUFF have nothing listed. They run from text control files, which suits agents that write and check input decks, and their pages describe how. InfoWorks ICM, with its Ruby scripting, is in the same position. Hydraulic and dispersion results feed regulatory decisions, so review the inputs and calibration behind anything an agent produces.

Questions

Is there an MCP server for HEC-RAS?

Yes, community servers built on the ras-commander library can open, edit and run HEC-RAS projects. HEC-HMS has a server built on hms-commander. Neither comes from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Which water tools have official AI integrations?

DHI publishes an official skill for MIKE+Py, its Python interface to MIKE+. The HEC, EPA SWMM, EPANET and MODFLOW integrations are community projects.

What about air dispersion models?

AERMOD and CALPUFF have nothing listed. Both run from text control files, so an agent can prepare and check input decks, but no published server runs them yet.
