AERMOD AI integrations
No MCP server or agent skill for AERMOD is listed yet (checked 4 Nov 2026). No MCP server or agent skill targets AERMOD yet, from EPA or the community. AERMOD is driven entirely by text control files and command-line executables, so an integration would write the aermod.inp run stream, run AERMET and AERMAP first, and parse the output. EPA updates the code often (version 26135 at this check), so any tool must track the current release and its regulatory default options.
How AI connects to AERMOD
An MCP server or skill can only do what AERMOD lets programs do. AERMOD exposes 2 automation interfaces:
- aermod.inp control file and pathways (Input files): AERMOD has no API. Every run reads a file named aermod.inp, organised into control, source, receptor, meteorology, event and output pathways, each with its own keywords; the MODELOPT keyword on the control pathway sets DFAULT and the non-regulatory options. EPA's quick reference guide lists every keyword. Source and receptor blocks can live in separate .src and .rec files that the control file includes, which suits tools that generate inputs programmatically. Documentation
- AERMET, AERMAP and command-line runs (Command line): Regulatory runs first use AERMAP to process terrain and AERMET to process meteorological data into the .sfc surface and .pfl profile files that AERMOD reads. EPA distributes each as a 64-bit Windows executable and its sample run guide runs all three from the Windows command prompt, including batch files for repeated runs with custom file names. Automation means writing these inputs, calling the executables and reading the output files. Documentation
What US EPA offers
EPA offers no MCP server, AI assistant or scripting API for AERMOD. Its SCRAM page lists the version 26135 executable, user's guide, implementation guide (July 2026), model change bulletins and a sample run, and EPA support is through its contact form. Commercial interfaces exist, such as Lakes Environmental's AERMOD View, but none advertises an MCP server.

What an integration for AERMOD could do
- Write an aermod.inp from a plain description of stacks, buildings and a receptor grid, keeping MODELOPT on DFAULT unless you ask for other options.
- Check a control file for missing pathway keywords or non-regulatory options before a run.
- Chain AERMAP, AERMET and AERMOD runs in one working folder, pointing SURFFILE and PROFFILE at the new AERMET files.
- Read the AERMOD output and the ERRORS.OUT file after a run, and summarise results at the receptors you care about for a permit report.
Know of one, or building one?
If an MCP server or agent skill for AERMOD exists, tell us and we'll check it and list it. You can also ask for one, which helps builders see demand.

Questions
Is there an AERMOD MCP server?
Not as of 4 November 2026. Neither EPA nor the community has published an MCP server or agent skill for AERMOD. GitHub has Python and R wrappers that write inputs, but none are MCP servers.
Can Claude set up an AERMOD run?
It can write the text control file, because aermod.inp is plain keyword text. Running it means calling the EPA executables on your machine, and no packaged tool does that for an agent yet.
Why is AERMOD hard to automate?
There's no API, the preprocessors AERMET and AERMAP must run first, and EPA revises the code and guidance regularly, so a tool has to track the current version and regulatory defaults.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
