PyAEDT-MCPby Ansys (Synopsys)
Ansys's own MCP server for Electronics Desktop: launches or attaches to AEDT over gRPC and runs PyAEDT code in a persistent session.
Ansys publishes an official, pre-1.0 MCP server, PyAEDT-MCP, that launches or attaches to Electronics Desktop over gRPC and runs PyAEDT code for HFSS, Maxwell, Q3D, Icepak and the other AEDT solvers. Several community servers add named antenna, port and far-field tools, one drives AEDT through Windows COM without PyAEDT, and a handful of skills teach PyAEDT antenna workflows. All of them drive a licensed AEDT install; most are documented on Windows only.
Ansys's own MCP server for Electronics Desktop: launches or attaches to AEDT over gRPC and runs PyAEDT code in a persistent session.
An 89-tool HFSS server that drives AEDT's native scripting API through Windows COM, without PyAEDT, so it also reaches HFSS 2019.
A 45-tool AEDT server in the CAE Agent Hub that mirrors PyAEDT-MCP's tool names and adds Maxwell tools and explicit session targeting.
An antenna-focused HFSS server over PyAEDT gRPC with one-call patch and dipole builds and a background PyAEDT script runner.
A PyAEDT HFSS server with antenna templates, PCB stack-up and signal-integrity tools, and stdio, HTTP or SSE transport.
A 109-tool AEDT server for HFSS, Maxwell, Q3D and Icepak, with PyAEDT tools plus raw access to native AEDT modules. Non-commercial licence.
A 26-tool PyAEDT server that holds one HFSS connection open across calls and can search a local index of your Ansys PDF manuals.
Three skills for antenna work in HFSS: modelling discipline and a design-card library, paper search, and rebuilding PCB stack-ups.
A Codex skill from real PyAEDT patch-antenna projects: build, solve, export and optimise in HFSS, plus attach-mode workarounds.
A Claude Code and Codex skill with a nine-step PyAEDT workflow for HFSS antenna runs, plus script templates and an environment check.

An MCP server or skill can only do what Ansys HFSS / Maxwell lets programs do. Ansys HFSS / Maxwell exposes 2 automation interfaces:
Ansys publishes PyAEDT-MCP from its own GitHub organisation: version 0.3.x on PyPI, Apache-2.0, classed as Alpha. Separately, Ansys Engineering Copilot, an in-product assistant that answers questions, searches Ansys learning resources and opens support cases, was announced for Electronics Desktop and HFSS in the 2025 R2 release. The copilot is a help tool; only the MCP server lets an outside agent operate AEDT.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cline, Codex, Continue, Cursor, Hermes Agent, OpenCode, VS Code, VS Code (GitHub Copilot) and Windsurf. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most Ansys HFSS / Maxwell integrations run on your own computer next to Ansys HFSS / Maxwell, so you need Ansys HFSS / Maxwell installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
Yes. PyAEDT-MCP is published in Ansys's GitHub organisation and on PyPI as ansys-aedt-mcp. It covers all Electronics Desktop applications, not only HFSS, and is still pre-1.0 (0.3.x, Alpha), so expect changes between releases.
Yes, if an MCP server can reach a licensed AEDT. The official server and most community ones start AEDT or attach to it over gRPC, then build the model, solve and export results. The solve uses your own HFSS licence and hardware.
The official server needs AEDT 2022 R2 or later, because it uses gRPC. Community servers name their tested releases, from 2024 R2 to 2026 R1. The COM-based HFSS_MCP server was tested on 2019.2 and 2025.2, which helps if you are on an older release.
The official server and the LaplaceYoung and CAE Agent Hub servers create Maxwell designs, and the CAE Agent Hub one adds 15 dedicated Maxwell tools. The other community servers and skills here are written for HFSS antenna work.
AEDT has no macOS build. You can run the official server on a Mac and point it at a gRPC session on a Windows or Linux machine, but the servers that use COM need Windows.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
