Siemens Docs MCPby Czarnak

TIA Portal has several competing community MCP servers, all built on the Openness API and all Windows-only: TiaMcpServer (NuGet) and heilingbrunner's server for V21, and the commercial T-IA Connect for V17 to V21. They differ in version support, write safety and how they move code in and out. A skills plugin and a Siemens documentation server add guidance. Siemens's own AI is the Eigen Engineering Agent, not an MCP server.

An Openness server that exports and imports TIA Portal PLC code as Git-friendly files; write tools stay off unless allowed.
A .NET tool that reads and edits a running TIA Portal V21 project through Openness, with dry-run previews for every write.
A plugin of 18 TIA Portal skills for Openness C#, TIA Scripting Python and Add-Ins, plus a Siemens docs search server.
A paid Windows app that drives TIA Portal V17 to V21 through Openness, with 120+ MCP tools and a headless REST API.
Listings are sorted by origin, then by recent activity. GitHub data is refreshed nightly. Nothing here is ranked.
An MCP server or skill can only do what TIA Portal lets programs do. TIA Portal exposes 2 automation interfaces:
Siemens unveiled the Eigen Engineering Agent at Hannover Messe on 20 April 2026 and says it is available to TIA Portal users through Siemens Xcelerator. It works inside TIA Portal V19, V20 and V21 on PLC code in SCL and LAD, WinCC Unified scripts, hardware and PROFINET configuration and documentation, with a one-month trial on the Siemens marketplace. The Engineering Copilot TIA page now redirects to it, and Siemens describes no MCP access.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, MiMoCode, OpenCode and VS Code (GitHub Copilot). Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most TIA Portal integrations run on your own computer next to TIA Portal, so you need TIA Portal installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
No. Siemens's AI product for TIA Portal is the Eigen Engineering Agent, which runs inside TIA Portal and isn't exposed over MCP. Every TIA Portal MCP server here is a third-party Openness client; T-IA Connect is commercial, the rest are open source.
TiaMcpServer supports V21 only. heilingbrunner's server defaults to V21 and can bind to earlier versions with --tia-major-version. T-IA Connect lists V17 to V21.
Not with TiaMcpServer, which has no PLC run/stop or download. The servers here focus on offline engineering: reading, editing, importing and compiling. T-IA Connect adds PLCSIM Advanced simulation for testing.
Windows, a licensed TIA Portal with Openness installed, your user in the Siemens TIA Openness group, and .NET Framework 4.8. TiaMcpServer also needs the .NET 10 SDK or its self-contained build, and its tia-mcp doctor command checks all of this.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
