LabVIEW MCPby Zühlke
A Windows MCP server with 118 tools that reads, generates, edits and runs LabVIEW VIs from a running LabVIEW 2020 or newer.
Two community MCP servers work with LabVIEW on Windows. Zühlke's LabVIEW MCP reads, generates, edits and runs VIs in LabVIEW 2020 or newer, using NI's gRPC AI service on 2026 Q3 and ActiveX plus a bundled pylabview elsewhere; it installs as a Claude Code plugin with LabVIEW agents. A smaller server builds VIs object by object through VI scripting. NI's own Nigel AI in LabVIEW 2026 Q3 is an MCP client, not a server.

Builds VIs step by step in the LabVIEW IDE through VI scripting, with each tool backed by a DQMH request event.

An MCP server or skill can only do what LabVIEW lets programs do. LabVIEW exposes 2 automation interfaces:
NI's Nigel AI is built into LabVIEW. In LabVIEW 2026 Q3 it can generate measurement VIs from a prompt for connected NI hardware, answer questions about projects, targets and installed NI software, let you pick the model, and connect to MCP servers and tools as a client. Nigel runs on Microsoft Azure OpenAI. NI publishes no MCP server that exposes LabVIEW to outside clients.

The listings here document setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and GitHub Copilot. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most LabVIEW integrations run on your own computer next to LabVIEW, so you need LabVIEW installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
No. NI's Nigel AI can connect to MCP servers from inside LabVIEW 2026 Q3, but NI doesn't publish a server for outside clients. Zühlke's LabVIEW MCP states it isn't affiliated with NI or Emerson.
Yes, through Zühlke's LabVIEW MCP. Claude writes a VI in the AIXML text format, the server validates it and LabVIEW turns it into a binary .vi. Only about 15% of VIs in one production codebase could be regenerated this way, so existing VIs are usually edited through pylabview instead.
Zühlke's server targets LabVIEW 2020 or newer on Windows x64. On 2026 Q3 it uses NI's own gRPC service; older versions go through ActiveX and pylabview, and the interface may break after a LabVIEW upgrade.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
