openvsp-mcp (Rhyne)by Rhyne
An 18-tool OpenVSP and VSPAERO server with validated builds, preflight checks, sweeps and resumable batch runs.
Three community MCP servers drive OpenVSP and VSPAERO on your machine. One wraps the official Python API for geometry, mass properties, VSPAERO sweeps and CAD export; one adds validated builds, preflight checks and resumable batch runs; a smaller one applies script edits and runs VSPAero. None comes from the OpenVSP project. Each is tested against a specific OpenVSP release on macOS or Linux, from 3.46.0 up to 3.55.0, and none bundles the OpenVSP binaries.
An 18-tool OpenVSP and VSPAERO server with validated builds, preflight checks, sweeps and resumable batch runs.
Exposes the official OpenVSP Python API as tools: build geometry, run mass properties and VSPAERO sweeps, and export CAD.
A small OpenVSP wrapper with three tools: inspect a geometry, apply scripted edits, and run VSPAero on the result.
Listings are sorted by origin, then by recent activity. GitHub data is refreshed nightly. Nothing here is ranked.
An MCP server or skill can only do what OpenVSP lets programs do. OpenVSP exposes 2 automation interfaces:
The OpenVSP site and API documentation describe the parametric geometry tool, its scripting interfaces and VSPAERO, but no MCP server or AI assistant as of this check. All three servers here are independent community projects, each tied to the OpenVSP and VSPAERO build its author tested.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for Claude Code and Codex. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most OpenVSP integrations run on your own computer next to OpenVSP, so you need OpenVSP installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
Several community ones: openvsp-mcp-api (colobocman), openvsp-mcp by Rhyne and openvsp-mcp by Three-Little-Birds. None is published by the OpenVSP team at NASA.
The one each server was tested with: 3.55.0 with VSPAERO 7.2.2 for Rhyne's server, 3.51.2 with VSPAERO 7.2.2 for openvsp-mcp-api, and 3.46.0 for the Three-Little-Birds wrapper. Rhyne's health tool reports whether your binaries match the tested build.
Yes. openvsp-mcp-api is registered in Claude Code with claude mcp add and has a vsp_vspaero_sweep tool; Rhyne's server has run_vspaero and sweep tools. OpenVSP itself must be installed separately from openvsp.org.
Only on a trusted network. openvsp-mcp-api has no authentication over HTTP and its script tool runs arbitrary Python, so it binds to loopback by default; Rhyne's server also binds HTTP to loopback.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
