What it can do
- Opens, creates and saves models, adds and deletes components and reads or sets parameters.
- Runs any registered OpenVSP analysis (ParasiteDrag, WaveDrag, CompGeom, DegenGeom and others), mass properties and VSPAERO polar sweeps.
- Exports STL, STEP, IGES, OBJ, Gmsh, Cart3D and other formats.
- Handles known pitfalls found in testing, such as leftover mesh components, thin and thick VSPAERO sets, and stale polars from earlier runs.
- Has a vsp_run_api_script escape hatch for API functions without a dedicated tool.
Limitations
- vsp_run_api_script runs arbitrary Python and HTTP has no authentication, so keep the default loopback bind.
- All HTTP clients share one model, so one client can discard another's work.
- Tested on macOS ARM64 only; OpenVSP's Python packages must be installed from the binary release.
