Foam-Agentby CSML at RPI (csml-rpi)
A research multi-agent system that plans, writes, runs and repairs OpenFOAM cases from a prompt, exposed as MCP tools.
OpenFOAM has no official MCP server, but it has the most community activity of any CFD code: servers that run real cases (tutorial cloning, meshing, background solves, convergence checks), a research multi-agent system with its own Claude Code skill, a workshop kit that validates results against published data, file-only editors, and several setup skills. Most run on Linux, macOS or WSL2 rather than native Windows, and each targets a particular release, so check whether yours is an openfoam.org or openfoam.com build.
A research multi-agent system that plans, writes, runs and repairs OpenFOAM cases from a prompt, exposed as MCP tools.
Drives any OpenFOAM case from a chat: clone tutorials, edit dictionaries, mesh, run long jobs and render the flow.
Workshop kit with four MCP servers that set up, mesh, solve and validate OpenFOAM cases against published data.
Builds structured Gmsh meshes from box, O-H cylinder and pipe templates, checks quality, shows checkpoints and exports to OpenFOAM.
An OpenFOAM server for foundry work: sets up mould-filling and solidification cases and flags likely casting defects.
A template-driven OpenFOAM server that goes from a prompt to case, preflight check, solve and residual plot.
Reads and edits OpenFOAM case files without running OpenFOAM, with extra tools for indoor thermal and buoyancy setups.
A C++ MCP server for OpenFOAM 12 aimed at CFD teaching, with guided questioning, mesh checks and pipe-flow tools.
A Claude Code skill that runs Foam-Agent's plan, write, run and repair loop for an OpenFOAM case from one prompt.
An agent skill for an OpenFOAM v14 install: case setup, smoke tests and a map of the source tree, kept as a growing index.
A Claude skill for setting up OpenFOAM cases: dictionaries, boundary conditions, solver choice, meshing and examples.
Listings are sorted by origin, then by recent activity. GitHub data is refreshed nightly. Nothing here is ranked.
An MCP server or skill can only do what OpenFOAM lets programs do. OpenFOAM exposes 2 automation interfaces:
Neither openfoam.org nor openfoam.com lists an MCP server, AI assistant or agent among its downloads or documentation as of this check. All the AI integrations here are community or academic projects; Foam-Agent, from a university research group, publishes benchmark results on its FoamBench task set, including runs with Claude models.

Taken from the listings' own documentation. Check each listing for exactly what it supports.
The listings here document setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cline, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot (VS Code and CLI), GitHub Copilot CLI, Kilo, OpenCode, VS Code, Windsurf and opencode. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most OpenFOAM integrations run on your own computer next to OpenFOAM, so you need OpenFOAM installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
No. Neither openfoam.org nor openfoam.com publishes one. The servers listed here come from individual developers, a university research group (Foam-Agent) and a workshop at AIAA Aviation 2026.
It varies. The 0xFFD server handles openfoam.org 11 and later and openfoam.com builds; webworn targets OpenFOAM 12; Foam-Agent defaults to Foundation v10 with a separate v2006 target; the workshop kit installs v2412; one skill is written for v14.
Mostly through WSL2. The 0xFFD server configures Windows-side clients to start it inside WSL2 and doesn't support native Windows builds, and the workshop kit installs into WSL2. The ymg2007 server edits case files only, so it runs natively on Windows.
Foam-Agent does: its planning and repair steps call a language model you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Ollama and others). The other servers leave all reasoning to the client and just run OpenFOAM commands.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
