OpenRoads / OpenBridge AI integrations

No MCP server or agent skill for OpenRoads / OpenBridge is listed yet (checked 4 Nov 2026). No MCP server or agent skill targets OpenRoads Designer or OpenBridge yet, from Bentley or anyone else. Bentley's MCP page covers MicroStation, the platform OpenRoads is built on, in early access, but doesn't say that server reaches civil objects such as alignments or corridors. Automation today runs through the OpenRoads Designer SDK, a C# and C++ add-in kit, and Bentley Copilot is an opt-in assistant inside OpenRoads Designer.

How AI connects to OpenRoads / OpenBridge

An MCP server or skill can only do what OpenRoads / OpenBridge lets programs do. OpenRoads / OpenBridge exposes 2 automation interfaces:

  • OpenRoads Designer SDK (.NET) (.NET): Add-ins written in C# against the Bentley.CifNET assemblies, installed with OpenRoads Designer, can create and modify terrains, horizontal and vertical alignments, corridors, template drops, superelevation and civil cells. Drainage and utilities objects are read-only in the SDK. The same add-in loads in OpenRoads, OpenRail and OpenSite Designer, though each product exposes different objects; OpenSite grading and parking lots are listed as future support. Documentation
  • OpenRoads Designer SDK (C++) (Other): A separate SDK installation adds C++ headers and libraries for native add-ins. Bentley's recommended skills for SDK developers start with MicroStation basics (DGN files, models, levels, cells and references), because civil objects sit inside MicroStation design files and an integration has to handle both layers. What Bentley offers

Bentley Copilot ships in OpenRoads Designer as an opt-in feature chosen at install time; Bentley's AI transparency card describes it as helping users learn the software and search documents, with text, audio and image input. A separate Label Organizer feature works on drawing sheets. Bentley's MCP servers page lists MicroStation, STAAD.Pro and request-only servers for other products, and names nothing for OpenRoads or OpenBridge.

What an integration for OpenRoads / OpenBridge could do

  • Create a horizontal alignment from coordinates or a line, add a vertical profile and print stationing and elevations, as the SDK's alignment and profile examples do.
  • Build a corridor on an existing alignment, add template drops and superelevation, and list the corridor's processing stations for review.
  • Query terrain models for elevations at given points and find where a terrain meets a design line.
  • Report a drainage and utilities model's nodes and conduits read-only, for checks against design criteria.
  • Summarise a DGN before editing, counting civil elements, listing references and models and reading the coordinate system.

Know of one, or building one?

If an MCP server or agent skill for OpenRoads / OpenBridge exists, tell us and we'll check it and list it. You can also ask for one, which helps builders see demand.

Questions

Is there an OpenRoads MCP server?

No, as of 4 November 2026. Bentley's MCP servers page doesn't mention OpenRoads Designer or OpenBridge, and no community server for them turned up on GitHub. Bentley says MicroStation and STAAD.Pro are the first in a planned rollout across its portfolio.

Would the MicroStation MCP server work in OpenRoads Designer?

Bentley doesn't say. OpenRoads Designer works in MicroStation design files, so MicroStation-level elements might be reachable, but civil objects such as corridors are handled by the OpenRoads SDK and nothing documents MCP access to them.

Can I automate OpenRoads today?

Yes, by writing a C# or C++ add-in with the OpenRoads Designer SDK. A coding agent can help write one, but it would run inside OpenRoads Designer and be loaded by you, not called live by the agent.

AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
