What it can do

  • Reads model properties, mass properties, configurations, BOMs and revision history, and searches a SOLIDWORKS PDM vault.
  • Drives dimensions, equations and parametric creation, and exports STEP and STL with 3D-print checks.
  • Runs locally on the workstation; the vendor says models stay on the machine and only the requested answer is returned.
  • Ships as a Windows installer, a Claude Desktop extension bundle (.mcpb) or an MSI for IT rollouts.

Limitations

  • Requires an Engineer, Team or Business plan plus the Desktop Connector add-on (50 USD per seat per month, as listed on 4 November 2026).
  • Beta; tool names and signatures may change between builds.
  • Each device is activated with a code tied to a ForgeMCP account.

Install

Download ForgeMCP Desktop from your ForgeMCP dashboard (Windows .exe, Claude Desktop .mcpb bundle or .msi), run a first tool call, then approve the device activation code at forgemcp.ai/app/activate.
