Smart 3D AI integrations
No MCP server or agent skill for Smart 3D is listed yet (checked 4 Nov 2026). No MCP server or skill for Smart 3D is listed yet. The plant design system, now sold by Octave as Forte 3D, has a .NET API for custom commands and a Web API for its Plant and Admin services, so a server that drives it is feasible. Until one exists, the nearest listed integrations are the AVEVA E3D and AutoCAD Plant 3D servers.
How AI connects to Smart 3D
An MCP server or skill can only do what Smart 3D lets programs do. Smart 3D exposes 2 automation interfaces:
- .NET API and Programming Resources (.NET): Custom commands are written in C# against the Smart 3D .NET APIs, which come in the Programming Resources toolset downloaded from the Smart Community site, with a Programmer's Guide PDF for Smart 3D and Smart 3Dx. Both the toolset and guide sit behind the community login. An MCP server would most likely be a custom command that listens for requests inside a running Smart 3D session, the same pattern the E3D servers on this site use. Documentation
- Smart 3D Web API (Plant and Admin APIs) (REST API): The version 14 documentation covers a web API with Plant and Admin endpoints, registered through Smart API Manager or another authentication provider. Because it is an HTTP service, an agent could query model data through it without a desktop session, subject to the permissions your administrator grants. Documentation
What Octave (formerly Hexagon PPM) offers
No AI assistant is documented for Smart 3D or Forte 3D. Octave's AI Assistant release notes describe an assistant shared across some Octave products and warn that not every capability reaches every product, and Smart Reference Data has an AI-assisted commodity code recommendation feature. No MCP server for Smart 3D was found as of this check.

What an integration for Smart 3D could do
- Query a model through the Web API for every pipe run on a unit and list its line number, spec and size.
- Export piping as PCF for CAESAR II and check that each line in the stress list was exported.
- Run a custom .NET command that checks equipment nozzle orientations against the datasheet and reports differences.
- Report which objects changed between two dates for a design review, using the Plant API.
