Onshape FeatureScript MCP Serverby Onshape (PTC)
Onshape Labs server that lets an AI client write, run and debug FeatureScript custom features in your documents.
Onshape has an official FeatureScript MCP server from Onshape Labs, in early access, that lets an AI client write, run and debug custom features inside your documents. Community servers go further and model through Onshape's REST API: sketches, features, assemblies with mates, drawings and exports. Because Onshape runs in the browser, every server works from any operating system, signing in with API keys or OAuth instead of driving a desktop program.

A Rust binary for Onshape that signs in with your own OAuth app and can save exports and screenshots locally.

A Python server with 45 tools over the Onshape REST API for sketches, features, assemblies and exports.
A Claude Code plugin that drives Onshape with rendered views, drawing OCR and an image-reading skill.

An MCP server or skill can only do what Onshape lets programs do. Onshape exposes 2 automation interfaces:
PTC launched the Onshape FeatureScript MCP Server through Onshape Labs, its early-access programme, in 2026. You subscribe to it in the Onshape App Store and connect to https://fs-mcp.labs.onshape.app/mcp over HTTP; Onshape names Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini as clients. It generates FeatureScript rather than modelling parts directly. Onshape also offers Co-Complete, which helps engineers write FeatureScript themselves.

The listings here document setup for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Gemini, OpenCode, VS Code, Windsurf and Zed. Install steps, copied from each project's own documentation, are on each listing's page. Most Onshape integrations run on your own computer next to Onshape, so you need Onshape installed and licensed on the same machine unless the listing says otherwise.
Yes, in early access. PTC's FeatureScript MCP Server comes from Onshape Labs and is subscribed to in the Onshape App Store. It writes and tests FeatureScript custom features; for direct part and assembly modelling you need one of the community servers.
Yes, through community MCP servers that call the Onshape REST API with your API keys. They create sketches and features, build assemblies and export files in your documents, from Windows, macOS or Linux, since nothing runs on a local CAD install.
Onshape's pages don't state plan requirements for the FeatureScript server. For community servers, one README notes that free accounts can only create public documents, so private work needs a paid plan.
The official server produces code, a reusable custom feature that regenerates without the AI. The community servers act like a user, adding ordinary features one call at a time.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
