What it can do

  • Sets up Column Internals on a RadFrac block, with tray or packed sections over stage ranges, in sizing or rating mode, and reads flooding, downcomer backup and pressure drop.
  • Estimates O'Connell tray efficiency, real tray count, tangent-to-tangent height and L/D from a converged column.
  • Can attach to a simulation you already have open in the Aspen window, and runs long cases asynchronously with a convergence report after each run.
  • Covers general flowsheet work too, adapted from thirakorn-mokkawes-59/aspen-mcp; blocks, streams, components, reactions, utilities, sensitivity runs and tear streams.

Limitations

  • Windows only, written and tested against Aspen Plus V15.
  • The author notes that Aspen's own section height and pressure drop count one tray per theoretical stage, so the height tool applies the efficiency itself.
  • Three-phase RadFrac blocks leave some result fields empty, and the tools fall back to other values.
