What it can do
- Exposes 28 tools in seven groups, from launching or connecting to Mechanical through file transfer, scripting and solving to screenshots and log retrieval.
- Launches Mechanical in GUI or batch mode, or connects to a session already started with gRPC enabled, locally, remotely or in a container.
- Finds objects in the model tree, describes their API, and previews a property change before applying it.
- Keeps a persistent Python session for PyMechanical code, and returns built-in guidance for common Mechanical workflow steps.
Limitations
- Version 0.3.x and marked Alpha on PyPI; v0.3.0 already renamed one tool, so client prompts may need updating between releases.
- Needs Python 3.12 to 3.14, plus uv and Git for the uvx route.
- The HTTP transport is meant for trusted networks or behind a proxy that adds authentication and TLS.
