What it can do
- Reads, writes and runs MATLAB code and scripts, and returns workspace values and figures.
- Parses and interacts with Simulink models.
- Runs engine calls asynchronously so long operations don't block the server.
- Blocks some unsafe commands and restricts the client to the current MATLAB working folder.
Limitations
- On first run it may open console windows and ask for admin rights to install the MATLAB Engine.
- Python 3.13 isn't supported (the package needs 3.10 to 3.12).
- The working folder can only be changed by hand, by design.
Install
pip install matlab-simulink-mcpclaude mcp add MATLAB_Simulink_MCP --env LOG_DIR="<absolute-path-to>/logs" -- "<absolute-path-to>/.venv/bin/python" -m matlab_simulink_mcpMCP servers and skills run code on your computer. Review the source before installing.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
