What it can do

  • Starts and quits MATLAB, or attaches to a session you shared with shareMATLABSession().
  • Runs code strings and .m or .p files and returns Command Window output.
  • Runs MATLAB unit test files and returns structured results, and lists the installed MATLAB version and toolboxes.
  • Runs a read-only Code Analyzer check on a script, and serves MathWorks coding and plain-text Live Script guidelines as MCP resources.
  • Accepts JSON extension files that add your own tools; the Simulink Agentic Toolkit uses this to add Simulink model tools.

Limitations

  • Anonymised usage data is collected by default; turn it off with --disable-telemetry=true.
  • MathWorks says to review every tool call before it runs, since code execution is unrestricted.
  • The licence permits use only with MathWorks products, and a server must not be shared by several users without contacting MathWorks. Releases are still pre-1.0 (v0.16.0).
