What it can do
- Lets the agent describe a flowsheet as JSON, then checks it against 11 known .inp syntax pitfalls, writes the .inp file, runs it through COM and verifies convergence, mass balance and purity.
- Extracts the topology of an existing .bkp, .inp or JSON case and draws a layered PFD as DXF, converting to DWG through AutoCAD or ODA File Converter.
- Adds equipment tags, Chinese equipment names and reaction equations to the drawing, by fixed rules or with an LLM.
- Includes a design assistant that turns a template, a one-line brief or a question-and-answer session into JSON, .inp, a design note and a PFD.
Limitations
- Windows only, tested with Aspen Plus V15 and Python 3.12; README and SKILL.md are in Chinese.
- DWG output needs AutoCAD or ODA File Converter, and the LLM features need an API key from a provider such as DeepSeek.
- The SKILL.md notes that running .inp files through the command-line engine fails licensing, so it goes through COM instead.
Install
pip install -r requirements.txtGive the agent the repository folder, or load its SKILL.md as a skill; the commands it describes are run from the folder that contains the aspen_assistant package.MCP servers and skills run code on your computer. Review the source before installing.
