Patran AI integrations
No MCP server or agent skill for Patran is listed yet (checked 4 Nov 2026). No MCP server or agent skill targets Patran yet. The closest option is the pyNastran file reader listed under Nastran, which can inspect the BDF decks Patran writes and the OP2 results it reads back, without opening Patran. Driving Patran itself would mean generating PCL or session files, which no public project does so far.
How AI connects to Patran
An MCP server or skill can only do what Patran lets programs do. Patran exposes 2 automation interfaces:
- PCL (Patran Command Language) (Other): PCL is Patran's own programming language. Its commands can be typed at Patran's command line, replayed from a session file, or loaded from external PCL files and libraries, and the reference manual has a chapter of session-file functions. Custom forms, menus and utilities in Patran are written in PCL, so an AI integration would most likely generate and run PCL. Documentation
- Session and journal files (.ses, .jou) (Input files): Patran records every PCL command of an interactive session in a .ses file, and keeps a journal of the commands applied to each database. Replaying an edited session file is the simplest way to automate a repeated meshing or loads setup, and the file is plain text an agent can read and write.
What Hexagon-Cadence offers
Patran is now sold by Cadence after its purchase of Hexagon's design and engineering business. The Patran 2026.1 release adds more MSC Nastran support, Flightloads improvements and ease-of-use changes, with no AI assistant or MCP server announced. The same product family lists ODYSSEE as a separate AI and machine-learning product rather than a Patran feature.

What an integration for Patran could do
- Generate a Patran session file that imports a CAD part, meshes it with a given global edge length and applies standard loads and boundary conditions, ready to replay.
- Write a PCL utility that renames groups and properties to a project convention across a large aircraft model.
- Check an exported BDF for missing properties, unconnected nodes or duplicate IDs before it goes to MSC Nastran.
- Read an OP2 result set and summarise margins per load case, using the pyNastran server while Patran stays closed.
Know of one, or building one?
If an MCP server or agent skill for Patran exists, tell us and we'll check it and list it. You can also ask for one, which helps builders see demand.

Questions
Is there a Patran MCP server?
Not as of 4 November 2026. No vendor or community server drives Patran. For Nastran decks and results you can use the pyNastran file reader.
How would an AI agent automate Patran?
By writing PCL or session files and replaying them in Patran. Both are plain text, so an agent can produce them without any Patran-specific connector.
AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
