LS-DYNA AI integrations

No MCP server or agent skill for LS-DYNA is listed yet (checked 4 Nov 2026). No LS-DYNA MCP server or skill is listed yet. A community server that read glstat, binout and d3plot files and drove LS-DYNA analyses through Mechanical appeared in an MCP directory, but its repository is no longer reachable, so it isn't listed. Ansys' official PyAnsys MCP family covers Mechanical, MAPDL, Fluent, CFX, Electronics Desktop and Lumerical, not LS-DYNA, though PyDYNA gives an integration a Python starting point.

How AI connects to LS-DYNA

An MCP server or skill can only do what LS-DYNA lets programs do. LS-DYNA exposes 2 automation interfaces:

  • PyDYNA (Python): PyDYNA (ansys-dyna-core) has two parts: a keywords module that writes LS-DYNA keyword files from Python without a server, and a run module that starts the solver locally. Results are then read with the Ansys Data Processing Framework (DPF). Its older solvers and pre modules are deprecated, so an MCP server built today would sit on keywords, run and DPF. Documentation
  • Keyword input decks (.k) (Input files): Every LS-DYNA model is a text keyword deck of *PART, *SECTION, *MAT, *CONTACT, *CONTROL and *DATABASE cards, documented in the LS-DYNA keyword user's manuals. Because decks are plain text and runs write glstat, binout and d3plot files, a file-based integration that audits decks and reads energy balances is practical even without a live connection. What Ansys (Synopsys) offers

Ansys publishes official MCP servers for Mechanical, MAPDL, Fluent, CFX, Electronics Desktop and Lumerical in its GitHub organisation, but none for LS-DYNA as of this check. Engineering Copilot, the in-product assistant built on AnsysGPT, launched in Mechanical and Discovery and was extended in 2026 R1 to medini analyze, ModelCenter and Rocky; LS-DYNA isn't named in either announcement.

What an integration for LS-DYNA could do

  • Submit a keyword deck with a chosen number of SMP or MPP cores and report progress, time step and estimated finish from the solver output.
  • Read glstat after a crash run and flag hourglass energy, added mass or a total-energy drift above a threshold.
  • Pull a nodal displacement or section force history from binout and plot it against test data.
  • Audit a deck for duplicate part IDs, missing material cards or contacts with no segments before you spend licence time on it.

Questions

Is there an official LS-DYNA MCP server?

No. Ansys' PyAnsys MCP servers cover Mechanical and MAPDL but not LS-DYNA, as of 4 November 2026.

Can I use the Ansys Mechanical MCP servers for LS-DYNA work?

Only indirectly. Mechanical can host LS-DYNA analysis systems, but the PyMechanical and PyMAPDL servers document no LS-DYNA tools, so you would rely on general Mechanical scripting.

AI-generated models, drawings and results must be checked by a qualified engineer before use.
