What it can do

  • A Tcl agent placed in Capture's capAutoLoad folder connects back to the server on 127.0.0.1:5177 and runs the Tcl it receives inside Capture.
  • Fourteen tools list designs, pages and parts, read and set part properties, open and save designs, trigger menu commands and run arbitrary Tcl.
  • Starts and closes Capture through COM, and runs PSpice from the command line with psp_cmd.exe.
  • Searches text extracted from Cadence's Capture Tcl/Tk manual to look up commands.

Limitations

  • Built and tested on OrCAD 16.6 Lite only.
  • Structural edits through the Dbo write API can crash Capture on save; the README recommends native commands for deleting or wiring parts.
  • Modal dialogs stall Capture's Tcl event loop, so external scripts need a dialog-dismissing thread.
