What it can do
- Runs DWSIM's .NET Framework engine inside the Python server process through pythonnet, with no DWSIM window; each MCP session gets its own flowsheet.
- Tools for sessions and case files, compounds, property packages and binary interaction parameters, streams and unit operations, solving, and TP, PH and PS flashes.
- Sensitivity analysis, parameter sweeps and optimisation runs, with export to CSV, JSON and generated reports.
- A PowerShell installer sets up the tool, can download the tested DWSIM build, and configures Claude Code, Codex and VS Code Copilot; `dwsim-mcp doctor` checks the setup.
Limitations
- Windows only (Windows 10/11, or Windows Server with Desktop Experience); Linux isn't supported and macOS is being explored.
- Tested against one DWSIM build; pointing it at a different DWSIM install may cause runtime errors.
- Python 3.11 or 3.12 only (the PyPI package requires below 3.13).
- AGPL-3.0 licensed, with a separate commercial licence offered for OntoLedgy's own code.
