What it can do

  • Loads the DWSIM engine in its own process through DWSIM's automation and fluent APIs, so no desktop window or graphical environment is needed.
  • Covers the whole flowsheet workflow in its tools, from compounds and property packages through streams, unit operations and connections to solving, degrees-of-freedom checks and solver diagnostics.
  • Also has tools for reactions, scenario snapshots and comparisons, flowsheet diagram screenshots and dynamic simulation, including PID controller tuning.
  • Speaks stdio, or HTTP with server-sent events (`/mcp`, `/sse` and `/health` endpoints) with an optional access token.

Limitations

  • Prebuilt server packages are for Linux only (a .deb for Debian or Ubuntu on x64 and ARM64, and a Docker image). On Windows or macOS you build and run it from the dwsim10 source with the .NET SDK.
  • The .deb service listens on every network interface on port 5901 with no token by default, over plain HTTP. Set a token on an untrusted network and put a reverse proxy in front for HTTPS.
  • It works on flowsheets it creates or loads itself; it doesn't attach to a DWSIM window you have open.

Install

sudo apt install ./dwsim-mcp_<version>_<arch>.deb
# edit /etc/dwsim-mcp/dwsim-mcp.conf to set the port/token, then
sudo systemctl restart dwsim-mcp
curl http://<host>:5901/health
