What it can do

  • Runs Vivado in GUI, headless Tcl or attach mode; an install step patches Vivado_init.tcl (with a backup) so a GUI you open yourself listens on port 9999.
  • Turns timing, IO and CDC reports into JSON, compares a timing result against a saved baseline and classifies CRITICAL WARNINGs with fix suggestions.
  • Blocks bitstream generation while CRITICAL WARNINGs remain unless you force it, and queries VCD waveforms offline.
  • Ships 11 workflow prompts and five exportable skills, listed separately.

Limitations

  • Tool descriptions and diagnostic advice are mainly in Chinese.
  • Only Vivado 2019.1 is tested end to end by the author.
  • Waveform queries read VCD only; WDB and FST must be exported first.

Install

python -m pip install vivado-mcp
vivado-mcp doctor
vivado-mcp install
