What it can do

  • Loads DWSIM's .NET Framework automation libraries through pythonnet, without a DWSIM window, and saves the generated cases as `.dwxmz` files.
  • Builds new flowsheets from a JSON "FlowsheetSpec" (material and energy streams, cooler, mixer, conversion reactor and shortcut column) after validating the spec.
  • Loads an existing case, changes parameters, solves it and returns stream results and unit duties, including multi-case parameter sweeps and formatted reports.
  • Has an HTTP endpoint so cloud agents in watsonx Orchestrate can reach the local DWSIM through a tunnel.

Limitations

  • Built as a demo submission, with the author's own Windows paths as defaults; expect to edit paths before it runs on your machine.
  • Only six object types can be created from a spec; the shortcut column is created but its separation specs can't be set yet, and rigorous columns aren't implemented.
  • The repository has no licence file, so reuse terms are unclear.

Install

Clone the repository, create a Python virtual environment with requirements.txt, and register dwsim_mcp_server.py as a stdio server named "dwsim" (see mcp_config_example.json; Bob Shell reads .bob/mcp.json when run from the project root).
