What it can do
- Groups its work into 12 domain routers (schematic, pcb, audit, drc, autoroute, library, export, lcsc and others) plus six standalone tools, keeping the tool list short.
- Runs PCB operations in KiCad's bundled Python (pcbnew) as a subprocess and edits schematics with kicad-sch-api.
- Builds a board from a schematic, suggests placement from connectivity, autoroutes through FreeRouter and panelises for manufacture.
- A get_usage_guidance tool gives the agent known issues and practices at the start of a session.
Limitations
- The author develops and tests on macOS with Claude Code; Windows and Linux should work but are untested.
- Tools accept any file path and run KiCad's Python in subprocesses; the author advises single-user, local use only.
- Autorouting is validated against FreeRouter 2.2.3; newer versions are slower in the author's tests.
