What it can do
- Workflow skills such as /simulate, /energy-report, /new-building and /retrofit chain the server's tools into one command.
- Task skills cover HVAC selection, pre-simulation QA/QC, troubleshooting failed runs, gbXML import and Python EMS plugins.
- Knowledge skills on measure authoring and ASHRAE 90.1 system selection load automatically.
- Other MCP hosts can read the same guides through the server's list_skills and get_skill tools.
Limitations
- Depend on the OpenStudio-MCP server's tools; they don't run OpenStudio on their own.
- Slash commands are a Claude Code feature; other hosts get the guides as tool output.
Install
The skills ship in the repository under .claude/skills and are baked into the server image at /skills; any MCP host can fetch them with the list_skills() and get_skill(name) tools.Source: github.com/NatLabRockies/openstudio-mcp#skills--tools-150-total
