What it can do
- staad-core: the base STAAD.Pro skill that sets the sandbox rules, unit handling and table format every other STAAD skill builds on.
- staad-geometry: guides the agent through creating, selecting, splitting and querying STAAD.Pro nodes, beams, plates, solids and groups.
- staad-properties: covers STAAD.Pro section tables, plate thickness, materials, member specs and which property calls fail silently.
- staad-supports: shows the agent how to create and assign STAAD.Pro supports, springs, inclined supports and elastic mats or footings.
- staad-loading: the largest STAAD skill: load cases, member, plate and floor loads, wind and seismic definitions, combinations and envelopes.
- staad-analysis: explains how to add analysis commands and run the STAAD.Pro solver, including P-delta, buckling and nonlinear runs.
- staad-results: covers reading STAAD.Pro results: member forces, displacements, reactions, plate and solid stresses, modes and design ratios.
- staad-steel-design: walks the agent through STAAD.Pro steel member design: design briefs, parameters, code checks and utilisation ratios.
- staad-reports: shows the agent how to build custom report tables inside STAAD.Pro and save them.
- staad-view: lets the agent control the STAAD.Pro window: views, labels, result diagrams, section cuts and image export.
- staad-errors: explains how OpenSTAAD calls fail and how the agent should handle return codes and exceptions in STAAD.Pro scripts.
Limitations
- Served through the server's read_skills tool rather than installed separately; staad-core must be loaded first, as the others assume its unit and sandbox rules.
- Written for the openstaad-mcp sandbox objects, so they are not standalone OpenSTAAD scripting guides.
Install
Bundled with openstaad-mcp; the agent loads each skill (starting with staad-core) with read_skills.Source: github.com/BentleySystems/openstaad-mcp#available-mcp-tools
MCP servers and skills run code on your computer. Review the source before installing.
