What it can do
- Connects an MCP client such as Visual Studio Code to an active ADS session, or starts a headless ADS-backed Python process with no GUI.
- Runs Python code inside ADS, so the agent can use the ADS Python design-environment API.
- Summarises the open workspace and searches Keysight's ADS workflow guides and API documentation.
- Contains no language model; you bring the model through your own MCP client.
Limitations
- Ships only with ADS 2027 and later; setup documentation sits behind a Keysight account sign-in.
- The first release mainly covers design-environment APIs; agent control of Data Display isn't guaranteed.
- Tool list, OS support and licence minimum come from a Wevolver article, not a public Keysight page.
Install
The ads-mcp executable is part of the ADS 2027 installation and is launched by the MCP client over stdio. Keysight documents the setup in "Using ADS MCP in VS Code" in the ADS 2027 Python documentation (Keysight account required).Source: www.wevolver.com/article/keysight-mcp-servers-ai-agents-rf-design
